The Kamado Chicken Stand allows you to make incredibly tender chicken on all outdoor grills and indoor ovens. Make “beer can chicken” or add your favorite marinade to the Chicken Stand. The Chicken Stand is all ceramic and dishwasher safe for easy clean up and years of use.
Methods
- Grilling
- Direct Method (1 hour @ 350°F (175°C) OR 8 minutes per pound)
- Place chicken on Chicken Stand directly on cooking grate.
- Recommended for chickens and other foul 5lbs in weight or smaller.
- Roasting
- Indirect Method (1.75 hours @ 325°F (160°C) OR 15 minutes per pound)
- Use Heat Deflector in the bottom position. Place drip pan between the Heat Deflector and the cooking grate.
- Smoking
- Indirect Method (3.5 hours @ 225°F (105°C) OR 30 minutes per pound)
- Use Heat Deflector in the bottom position. Place drip pan between the Heat Deflector and the cooking grate.
- If you are using an internal thermometer, the target temperature is 160°F (71°C).
Grill Types
- Briquette Charcoal Grills
- Use the Direct Method above as a guide and place the chicken and Chicken Stand directly on the cooking grate. Alternately, you can use a ceramic baking/pizza stone or metal drip pan on the cooking grate for indirect cooking. If your grill does not have a thermometer, monitor regularly.
- Gas Grills
- Use the indirect Method above and place the chicken and Chicken Stand on an unheated area of the cooking grate. Use the burner on the opposite side of the grill. You can also use a drip pan under the chicken or place the chicken and Chicken Stand directly in the drip pan.
- Indoor Ovens
- Use the “Roasting” Indirect Method on the back of this package as a guide for cooking time and temperature. Place the chicken and Chicken Stand directly on a drip pan.
Recipes
- Beer Can Chicken
- The Kamado Joe Chicken Stand will hold one 16 oz. bottle of beer. Alternately, you fill the Chicken Stand half way full of beer, then add your favorite ingredients (e.g. butter, onions, garlic, chile peppers).
- Marinades
- Use any prepackaged marinade or your own recipe and fill the Kamado Joe Chicken Stand 3/4 of the way full. Create your own recipe and experiment with fruit juices like apple, orange, pineapple or cranberry. Add your favorite herbs or spices to the juice like bay leaves, thyme, rosemary or sage.
Prep Instructions
- Remove giblets package from whole chicken and trim off any excess skin
- Wash chicken and pat dry outside with paper towel
- Add your favorite dry rub to the skin and/or between the meat and skin
- Use the legs of the chicken to balance it on the Kamado Joe Chicken Stand
